How to Look Youthful

by Jen Hopkins

Wrinkle, or anti aging, creams are moisturizing or acidic liquids, gels, or creams that are applied to the skin to reduce wrinkles. The internet has sites dedicated to wrinkle cream reviews where information on various brands and ingredients are compared, but there is not a consensus as to which the best wrinkle cream or the best anti aging cream is.

Companies market their wrinkle creams with the claim that they will drastically reduce the signs of aging over time. Independent studies and consumer reviews have found some of these advertisements to be greatly exaggerated. That's why it's wise to access consumer reviews online before spending money on something that may just end up disappointing you.

Most wrinkle or anti aging creams are consumed by older women who are tempted by advertising promises to restore their youth, although creams are also marketed to men and the younger generation. Creams are often marketed as either regenerative or preventative based on the age group the company is marketing to.

Regenerative anti-aging products typically work by moisturizing dry skin. This plumps up the skin and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The downfall is that the effects are only temporary, and that regular application is imperative for good results.

Not all skin types are the same, nor are all anti-aging products the same. This is why it's a good idea to read up on your skin type and how it will respond to a particular ingredient. For instance, it wouldn't make sense to apply an intense moisturizer to oily skin, but it would be beneficial to apply such a product to chapped skin.

Preventative wrinkle creams and gels usually include acidic ingredients. These chemicals help to peel away old, haggard-looking skin to reveal more youthful looking skin. However, depending on your skin type, acidic ingredients can be extremely harsh. Once again, it is imperative that you do your homework before introducing a new, potentially harmful product to your skin.

Skin treatments should be carefully chosen before being applied to reduce the chances of further damaging skin. Many creams claiming to restore the youthfulness of skin can have a positive effect, although rarely to the degree or with the speed that the advertising claims.

Sometimes all you can do is make an educated guess about which cream will work best for you. Then, it all comes down to trial and error. Use the cream diligently, and follow all instructions carefully. Then, observe your skin to see if there has been a significant improvement. Patience, diligence, and a wrinkle cream that works with your skin type are all you need to look younger!
